La Palmyre Zoo- a 33 acre zoo situated in the heart of a beautiful pine forest north of Royan. France’s most famous zoological park and an important breeding centre.

Saintes- built by the Romans in the 1ST Century on the banks of the Charente. Today there are many reminders of the towns origins including the imposing Arch of Germanicus, the Amphitheatre, and Musee d’Archeologie which houses the rich collection of architectural elements and sculptures from the 1st to 3rd Centuries.
Cognac- famous for the centuries old production of the brandy that bears its name, and birth place of Francois 1st. It is a first rate tourist centre, with numerous prestigious Cognac Houses [incl Hennessy, Remy Martin and Martell] offering guided tours of their distilleries and spirit warehouses.
Visit also the spectacular Parc Francois 1st with its beautiful laws, grottoes, streams and bridges and stroll through the cobbled streets of the old town.

St Jean d’Angely- built on the site of a Roman villa on the banks of the river Boutonne. Wander through the narrow medieval streets, with its half-timbered houses and 15th Century Clock tower.

Puy du Fou - situated off the A87 near Les Herbiers in North Vendee.
